BMW's First Fully Electric Crossover
Set to arrive early next year, the 2022 BMW iX will be the first fully electric crossover available in Vancouver and across Canada. BMW showcased its design way back in the fall of 2018 with the Vision iNext concept. The concept has finally come to fruition and is coming across the pond to Canada in the first quarter of 2022 in the new BMW iX design. It will offer an estimated driving range up to 475km for drivers that want a luxury crossover but also want to focus on environmental sustainability.

The 2022 BMW iX xDrive50 crossover SUV will run on BMW's fifth-generation eDrive electric motor and power electronics technology. Boasting 93% efficiency, the iX uses no rare earth materials at all in its construction, sticking to its focus on environmental sustainability and renewable resources.
The eDrive system channels 516 horsepower through the 2022 BMW iX and its single-speed transmission to the front and rear wheels in this electric all-wheel drive (AWD) system. It has enough power to accelerate from 0 to 97 km/h in just 4.6 seconds and on to a top speed of 200 km/h.
Electric Capabilities
In terms of electric capability, the iX offers a driving range up to 475km with its 106.3 kWh net capacity. DC fast charging capability will be standard, charging rom 10 to 80 percent in just 35 minutes when hooked up to a 200-kW connection.
Advanced Features
BMW's latest infotainment system, iDrive 8, is integrated into the new 2022 iX. Its focus is on natural language and dialogue-based interactions versus touchscreen or physical buttons. More connected digital services are also standard, including traffic and charging, as well as parking information.
The infotainment interface will be displayed on a huge 14.9-inch display and combines with a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster to create the iX's tech-forward and futuristic dashboard design. An 18-speak Harman/Kardon audio system is standard, as are Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity.
New Design
Just because it is a crossover does not mean that the iX is small. In fact, it is more along the lines of a mid-size SUV, taking some styling cues from BMW's X5 and X6 crossovers.
The interior design features the high-tech dashboard with the large, curved touchscreen instrument panel, in addition to a hexagonal-shaped steering wheel. A large panoramic sunroof is also available with the forward-thinking electrochromic shading. Heated, power front seats will provide exceptional comfort to the front-row passengers while the back-row occupants get plenty of leg room and cargo space.
The 2022 BMW iX is Coming to Vancouver
The 2022 BMW iX will be available at the Brian Jessel BMW dealership in Vancouver. A full-service, no-pressure dealership, Brian Jessel BMW is ready to help drivers reserve the new iX and experience German engineering in a whole new way. The 2022 BMW iX will have a starting price from $89,990 before destination charges, and BMW even hints that a more powerful xDrive60 model is also planned for the future.
