BMW Introduces All-Electric Gran Coupes to Canada

Do not call them sedans--the 2022 BMW i4 eDrive and i4 M50 are graceful and stylish gran coupes that bring silky smoothness and prodigious power driven by pure electricity. These four-door wonders offer serious horsepower and long-distance ranges for drivers who want performance without burning fuel.
Sustainable in Every Aspect
Not only are the i4 eDrive40 and i4 M50 built for sustainability, but BMW also focuses on sustainability in every aspect of the building process. Their battery cell suppliers only use electricity from renewable resources. Purely green energy is used to manufacture the aluminum electric motor cases, and the i4's Munich production facility is run on locally generated hydroelectric power.
Similarities Between the i4 eDrive40 and i4 M50
The 2022 BMW i4 eDrive40 and i4 M50 are both powered by BMW's fifth generation of eDrive technology, which features the electric motor, power electronics, and one-speed transmission all together in one housing.
Battery packs in both vehicles are located on the floor, giving the gran coupes low centres of gravity. They are both powered by a high-voltage 83.9-kWh battery with four modules that include 72 cells each and three 12-cell modules.
A combined charging unit (CCU) comes standard on both i4 models, which requires less than eight hours to charge from zero to 100 percent with a Level 2 charger. Using a DC fast charger, the i4 models can add 145km of range in 10 minutes.
Inside, BMW carries the style and grace found on the exterior of the i4 models. The driver-focused cockpit is clean and sparse. It is dominated by an all-new curved display, which is a frameless, single-piece glass surface angled toward the driver. This driver-focused unit consists of a 12.3-inch information display and 14.9-inch control display.
2022 BMW i4 eDrive40
The 2022 BMW i4 eDrive40 is a rear-wheel drive (RWD) electric vehicle (EV). It delivers 335 horsepower and an estimated range up to 475km. For adapt handling and capability, the i4 eDrive40 includes lift-related shock absorbers, rear air suspension, integrated braking system, electromechanical steering, and more. The i4 eDrive 40 comes standard with 18-inch light-alloy wheels, but 19-inch wheels are available.
2022 BMW i4 M50
The 2022 BMW i4 M50 is the first EV to wear BMW's coveted M badge, and it does not disappoint. This all-wheel drive (AWD) i4 delivers 536 horsepower and an estimated range of 385km.
The adaptive M suspension is added to the i4 M50, featuring individually configured springs and shocks, specially designed anti-roll bars, variable sport steering, M Sport brakes, and M light-alloy wheels up to 20 inches in diameter. It also receives exterior and interior design features specific to M models.
Purchasing a New BMW in Vancouver
The new 2022 BMW i4 eDrive40 and i4 M50 models are expected to arrive in Canada in early 2022.
