New BMW M3 and M4 Arrive in Canada

New BMW M3 and M4 Arrive in Canada

BMW has always been performance-focused, but the addition of the M3 and M4 to the 2021 lineup has taken the brand to a new, hardcore, true performance level. With turbocharged engines, more horsepower than drivers could ever need, and incredible speed, the M3 and M4 are vehicles meant to be driven.

Uncompromising Performance

The 2021 BMW M3 sedan and M4 coupe have arrived in Canada to much fanfare. They are powered by BMW's new twin-turbocharged inline-six engine, which delivers 473 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque. It comes standard with rear-wheel drive (RWD) and a six-speed manual transmission, though an eight-speed automatic is available.

This powerful performance car boasts a 0-100 km/h time of 4.2 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h. However, for those with the need for speed, the M Driver's Package removes the top speed limiter and allows the vehicles to reach 290 km/h.

However, there is even more. The 2021 BMW M3 and M4 also come in the die-hard Competition models in Canada. With the same twin-turbocharged inline-six engine, these models offer 503 horsepower and a massive 479 lb-ft of torque. While a manual transmission is not available on the Competition configuration, drivers are able to equip the cars with all-wheel drive (AWD) instead of the standard RWD.

Aggressive Styling

The all-new 2021 BMW M3 and M4 models feature longer and wider platforms with standard electronically controlled shock absorbers. Combined with a unique BMW kidney grille and a prominent lower rear diffuser, the exterior styling is focused on muscularity. The M3 models feature staggered wheelsets--18-inch wheels in front and 19-inch wheels on the back for the regular models and 19 inches in the front 20 inches in the back for the Competition models. These are not the BMWs of old.

The interior includes a chunky sport steering wheel, bolstered bucket seats, and 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. The unique M badging appears throughout the cabin, but otherwise, the M3 and M4 feature the same design as their more pedestrian counterparts. However, just as the performance is upgraded in the M3 and M4, so are the materials and build quality.

Safety and Connectivity

Just because the M3 and M4 are focused on performance, that does not mean they forgot about a vehicle's simple pleasures. Interior features include a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, multiple charging ports, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Additional options include a wireless charging pad and a subscription-based Wi-Fi hotspot.

While driving engagement is the top priority for BMW's M models, safety is still at the forefront. Key safety features include standard blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assist.
