The all-new 2021 BMW 4 Series Cabriolet is a stylish, progressive convertible that features the 4 Series' well-known oversized grille and brings back the convenience of a soft-top. The redeveloped soft top will be a hit with convertible lovers who found the hardtop clunky, time-consuming, and a space waster. The soft top is not only convenient, it also adds more cargo space back into the convertible and lowers the bodyweight for more adept driving.
A Convenient Convertible
The return of the soft-top convertible is a return to basics for BMW, allowing the vehicle to add an additional 34 litres of cargo space and realize better handling thanks to a lowered centre of gravity. In addition, the convertible can be put in place or folded down while driving (under 50 km/h) with the push of a button. The whole operation takes only 18 seconds from start to finish.
The 2021 BMW 4 Series Cabriolet convertible comes standard with a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that delivers 255 horsepower and 294 lb-ft of torque. It can also be paired with BMW's xDrive all-wheel-drive (AWD) system. In addition, BMW will offer a faster powertrain option in the 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six that delivers 382 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. Both powertrains are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission that allows for manual shifting.
Priced to Compete
The 2021 4 Series Cabriolet will go on sale in mid-2021 and likely be priced right under $60,000. For the number of included features, plus the redesigned soft-top convertible, BMW is actually offering drivers a decent value. The interior of the convertible will feature leather 'Vernasca' Oyster with décor stitching, M leather steering wheel, fine-wood trim oak grain trim, ambient lighting, and more. The exterior features LED fog lights, adaptive M suspension, 19-inch BMW Individual light-alloy wheels, and an M sport brake.
The convertible is also packed with innovative technology, such as BMW's Driving Assistant Professional, which offers comfort and safety during traffic situations. It includes steering and lane control assist, emergency stop assist, lane-keeping assist, and more. Smartphone integration is easy, as the 2021 BMW 4 Series Convertible supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
A neat feature is BMW's Digital Key. No longer will drivers have to worry about a misplaced key when they have a personal iPhone. Drivers, and up to five others designated by drivers, can lock, unlock, and even start their BMW with the Digital Key.
