The BMW X4 was first introduced back in 2014, and quickly established itself as a player in the luxury performance market. Now into its second generation, the latest model features improved styling and more power under the hood, making it an even more attractive buy.
The X4 is available in two main versions for 2020, the xDrive 30i and the M40i. What are the main features they offer?
2020 BMW X4 Body Styling
BMW class the X4 as a coupe, and with its sleekly sloping roofline it certainly looks the part. However, with four doors compared to the more usual two, it maybe edges past the coupe format into the compact luxury SUV territory. Both options pass the power to all-wheel drive via an eight-speed automatic transmission, and both cars offer a smooth but exciting drive. The M40i in particular is close to true sports car performance, with the powerful handling backed up by M Sport brakes and adaptive suspension.
Fuel Economy
In a car of this performance class, fuel economy is never going to be a strong selling point. Nonetheless, the X4 isn't an especially thirsty vehicle compared to its competitors. The xDrive 30i boasts figures of 10.2L / 100km for city driving and 8.2L / 100km on the highway.
As you'd expect, the figures for the 3.0L M40i are somewhat higher, at 11.3 (city) and 8.7 (highway).
Other Standard 2020 BMW X4 Features
As a luxury sports car, interior technology is a huge plus point for the X4. As standard, there's a 10.3" touchscreen to control the infotainment, navigation, and smartphone integration. This is backed up by a 12.3" digital gauge cluster, and for an impressively advanced experience, you can upgrade to a head up display with gesture control.
Standard audio is supplied by a 12-speaker system, which can be upgraded to a 16-speaker surround sound format.
