The Brian Jessel BMW "Last Tuesday Nighter" in benefit of DEVO and Cannondale pb Fortius Travelling Team, is a night of cycling racing and celebration to close out the Greater Vancouver road criterium racing season. The event marks the end of the 'World Tuesday Night Championship' criterium series hosted by Escape Velocity. Held on Brian Jessel's marque lot at Boundary and Lougheed, three events will take place on a course laid out under the lights weaving in and out of the cars creating a unique atmosphere for spectators and racers alike. A casual festive dinner, music, guest appearances and the excitement of short lap racing will energize the night.
Health-active children are our future and cycling is a central part of a healthy active childhood. Adventure, transportation, connection to nature and freedom. This is what cycling offers children and youth. All proceeds from the event support the Escape Velocity Non-profit Society (est. 1989) and its youth programs. The DEVO program (ages 9-14) and the Cannondale pb Fortius travelling team (ages 15-18) are lighthouse programs in Canada bringing new children into the sport of cycling. For youth with the drive, 8 years of coaching and support can lead to national team selections and travelling the world. For all their riders, the programs fosters friendships and develops the skills and desire to be active for life.
