2023 BMW X1

BMW’s entry-level X1 SUV has been completely revamped for 2023, and you can now personalise your X1 with various available packages.

Upgrades From 2022

The X1 has always been a great competitor when it comes to cargo space. However, in 2023 the X1 gets 4.31cm added to its design, enhancing the cargo and interior space which seats five adults comfortably. The larger infotainment touchscreen now encompasses all controls, and the central stack has been cleared of control buttons. You’ll also notice that the front end has been redesigned.

Engine and Performance

The 2023 BMW X1 can be purchased in the xDrive28i model ($48,725), which has a four-cylinder 2.0L turbocharged engine capable of kicking out 295 lb-ft of torque and 241 horsepower. You can choose between the automatic transmission with paddle shifters or the double-clutch Steptronic transmission configuration.

The vehicle has a 54.13-litre fuel tank, and you’ll be able to get approximately 10.62km/L in the city, 14.45km/L on the highway, and 11.9km/L combined, which is very impressive compared to other SUVs in this segment. This little number can also sprint from zero to 100km/h in just 6.4 seconds.

Exterior Options

The X1 is available in either Jet Black or Alpine White. If you opt for metallic colours to adorn your new SUV, you have the option of 11 fabulous metallic colours that range between Cape York Green, Utah Orange, and Phytonic Blue metallic. Adding any of these colours will add between $895 to $4,900 to the starting price.

You have a choice between two 45.72cm light alloys or aero wheels. You can upgrade to either of the two available 48.26cm wheels or the 50.8cm wheels. Upgrading to these adds between $500 to $1,000 to the asking price.

Interior Options

As mentioned, the central stack has been cleared of all control buttons. The infotainment screen has been enlarged to 27.17cm to make space for the additional preset and climate controls. Seating colour trims include Oyster, Mocha, or Black perforated leatherette. We particularly like the available Coral Red and Black seats ($500), which gives the cabin a more sporty look.

Other key technology features now include ambient lighting, a 26cm digital instrument panel, dual air conditioning, mobile phone integration with wireless capabilities, and a navigation system.

Various packages are available to personalise your X1. The Premium package gets you a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, head-up display, interior camera, drive recorder, and more.

Driver-Assistance Features

Standard driver-assistance technology systems include front and rear parking sensors, blind-spot warning with rear-cross traffic alert, lane departure alert, and forward collision mitigation warning.
